Terms of Use
These terms govern the use of the Candid Accountants public website, online forms, appointment pages and client access links. Separate engagement terms apply when Candid Accountants accepts professional work.
1. Website operator and acceptance
This website is operated by Candid Accountants from 05 Munpen Building, 80 Thabo Mbeki Drive, Mokopane, 0600. By using the website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the website.
2. General information—not specific advice
Website content and Insights articles provide general information about accounting, tax, payroll, company and statutory-compliance matters. They are not a substitute for advice based on your facts, records, deadlines and applicable law. Requirements may change, and professional advice should be obtained before acting or omitting to act.
3. No engagement created by website use
Submitting an enquiry, service request, appointment request or document does not by itself appoint Candid Accountants, create a professional engagement or guarantee that work will be accepted. An engagement begins only when its scope, responsibilities, fees and other applicable terms have been accepted through an authorised process. Where an engagement letter conflicts with these website terms, the engagement letter governs the professional service.
4. Your information and responsibilities
You must provide information that is accurate, complete, current and lawfully supplied. You remain responsible for reviewing information, meeting obligations allocated to you and notifying us promptly of deadlines, SARS or authority correspondence, errors and material changes. Do not submit information belonging to another person or entity unless you have authority to do so.
5. Service requests and appointments
Online availability, acknowledgement or booking confirmation does not guarantee that a particular outcome, filing date or service deadline can be met. Work remains subject to scope confirmation, staff availability, information requirements, authority systems and statutory timelines. Rescheduling and cancellation instructions supplied with an appointment should be followed.
6. Client Centre, credentials and authorised access
Client access is restricted to authorised users and authorised records. You must keep credentials and access links secure, use them only for the intended purpose and notify Candid Accountants promptly if access may have been compromised. You may not attempt to view another client's records, bypass access controls or use the website to test or disrupt security.
7. Documents, electronic communications and signatures
Documents must be submitted through an authorised channel and must not contain malicious code. You should retain your own copies and verify that uploads or signatures have been successfully completed. Electronic messages and signing links may be affected by internet, email, device or third-party service conditions. A signature or approval process is valid only when completed by an authorised person through the applicable workflow.
8. Tax, SARS and regulatory outcomes
Candid Accountants may provide professional assistance and representation within an agreed scope, but SARS, CIPC, the Compensation Fund, the Tax Ombud and other authorities retain their legal decision-making powers. The website does not promise or guarantee a refund, assessment change, objection or appeal outcome, payment suspension, instalment arrangement, compromise, registration, certificate, approval or regulatory result.
9. Intellectual property and permitted use
Unless otherwise stated, website content, visual presentation and original materials belong to Candid Accountants or are used under appropriate rights. You may view and print reasonable extracts for personal or internal business use. You may not reproduce, republish, sell, misrepresent or systematically extract website content without prior written permission or another lawful basis.
10. Third-party links and systems
Links to SARS, CIPC, labour authorities and other external services are provided for convenience. Candid Accountants does not control their availability, security, content or decisions. Access to a third-party system is subject to that provider's own terms and controls.
11. Availability, security and prohibited use
Reasonable steps are taken to maintain a secure and reliable website, but uninterrupted or error-free availability cannot be guaranteed. You may not introduce malware, automate abusive submissions, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with website operation, impersonate another person or use the website unlawfully.
12. Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Candid Accountants is not responsible for loss arising solely from reliance on general website information, unauthorised access caused by a user's failure to protect credentials, incomplete or inaccurate information supplied by a user, or failures outside the firm's reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Liability relating to an accepted professional engagement is governed by the applicable engagement terms and law.
13. Privacy
Personal information is processed in accordance with applicable South African data-protection law, including POPIA, and the purposes described in our Privacy Policy. Confidential or sensitive information should be sent only through an authorised channel.
14. Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. We may update them when the website, services or legal requirements change. The current version and update date will appear on this page.
